Get to Know Dr. Amanda Tompkins
I believe that orthodontics is about much more than just straightening teeth. Improving someone's smile can truly be life-changing, and I take great pride in building relationships with each of my patients in order to provide them with the best possible care. I work tirelessly to ensure that every patient achieves the smile they've always wanted, and I'm excited to show you what's possible!
Why Did You Want To Become A Dentist?
Growing up, I always knew I wanted to work in the healthcare field, but during my sophomore year of college, I shadowed my childhood dentist and fell in love with dentistry. While in dental school, I was drawn to orthodontics. Ultimately, I decided to pursue an orthodontic residency after practicing as a general dentist for a few years, and I absolutely love what I do every day!
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
I attended the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine for my DDS degree. I then completed my orthodontic residency at A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona where I received my Orthodontic Certificate and a master’s degree in orthodontics.
Today, I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, American Association of Orthodontists, and the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
I am married to one of my dental school classmates, Dr. Adam Vega. Ironically enough, Adam and I lived only about a mile apart from each other while we were growing up and just never crossed paths until dental school. Timing really is everything! We welcomed our first son, Archer, in the fall of 2023, and he truly is the apple of our eyes. I also love dogs and have a chiweenie named Finn and a silver lab named Elsa. Like any native Coloradan, I love the outdoors. When I’m not perfecting smiles, I enjoy hiking, camping, and spending time with my son, husband, family, and friends.
